I'm Liz  -  welcome to my website.

I spent much of working life in local government until I was made redundant in 2011. After the initial shock, I decided to look at it as an opportunity to do something I had always wanted to do - start my own business.

I've been sewing for as long as I can remember, making everything from clothes and curtains to cushions.  If it can be sewn, I've probably had a go! I was mostly self taught by my mum, who is still my greatest inspiration.

When I was growing up she would sit at her industrial sewing machine creating all sorts of wonderful things, from beautiful clothes to soft toys and even pantomime costumes. She sadly passed away in 2008, but I've always felt she left me with a great love of sewing and a skill I wanted to make more of.

That's what led me to take evening classes, and after 2 years I achieved a City & Guilds distinction in Soft Furnishings. With a bit more confidence (and lots of encouragement from my tutor and friends), I decided to turn my hobby into something more. Lizzington - a nickname given to me by one of my best friends - was born

I'm also really inspired by my sister, who trained as a designer pattern cutter and now weaves the most beautiful cloth. I'm luck enough to use some of her fabrics in my work, which makes the items feel even more special.

This is me as a baby with my sister and a little older but still as close.

Today I spend my time designing and making textile bags and accessories, each one created with care, creativity and attention to detail.
